Can a shikibuton this full still fold away?

Yes. SORA is designed to fold into three sections for airing and storage. Its approximate folded footprint is 67 cm by the selected width, with about 36 cm of folded loft.

What surface should I use beneath SORA?

Use a firm, level, clean, and breathable surface such as tatami, suitable flooring with a moisture-control layer, a platform board, or a ventilated bed frame. Air the shikibuton and the surface beneath it regularly.
