A fuller SORA, framed in grey.

With the current specification update, SORA uses calm grey piping around the ivory cotton exterior.

Calm grey piping around all four edges gives the ivory cotton surface a more composed, contemporary outline.

The filling combines 50% wool with 50% polyester fibre for warmth, breathability, and resilient comfort, while the foldable form remains easy to air and store.

Answers before ordering

Frequently asked questions

Why is SORA thicker than HIMARI?

HIMARI is the standard thickness used in Japanese homes. Customers abroad often want more depth under the body, so SORA adds about 2 cm and doubles the wool share. The support underneath is the same.

What defines the current SORA specification?

SORA has calm grey piping around all four edges, approximately 12 cm of loft, and a filling of 50% wool and 50% polyester fibre.

What does the name SORA mean?

In Japanese, SORA is associated with the sky and a sense of openness and calm.

Is SORA made in Japan?

Yes. SORA is assembled, sewn, inspected, and finished at the OFUTON KOBO atelier in Oyama, Tochigi, Japan.

What sizes are available?

The current product record includes Single 200 × 100 cm and Double 200 × 140 cm. Confirm current inventory and price in the official international store before checkout.

Can a shikibuton this full still fold away?

Yes. SORA folds into three sections for airing and storage. Its approximate folded footprint is 67 cm by the selected width, with about 36 cm of folded loft.

What surface should I use beneath SORA?

Use a firm, level, clean, and breathable surface such as tatami, suitable flooring with a moisture-control layer, a platform board, or a ventilated bed frame. Air the shikibuton and the surface beneath it regularly.

How is SORA shipped?

Shipping included. We process and ship your order within 2 business days (Japan time). Japan Post EMS delivery usually takes about 10 to 14 days after dispatch.
