Two people fit on one 140 cm Extra-Wide Single only if both are of smaller build: that is 70 cm each, against the 90 to 100 cm a single Western mattress usually gives one adult. For two adults of average build, lay two shikibuton side by side — each person gets a full 100 cm and one person turning over does not move the other’s surface. HIMARI comes in 100, 120 and 140 cm and is 210 cm long; SORA comes in 100 and 140 cm and is 200 cm long, so do not lay a HIMARI beside a SORA: the lengths do not match.

- Each folds and airs separately, which is lighter work than handling one large piece.
- Choose the same model for both: HIMARI and SORA differ in thickness (approx. 10 and 12 cm) and length (210 and 200 cm), so a mixed pair would not sit level.
