Product facts, daily use, and the handoff to Shopify, kept in one concise reference.
What is a shikibuton?

A shikibuton is the Japanese sleeping layer placed on a firm, level surface. It can be used on tatami, a suitable ventilated platform or frame, or an appropriate floor setup, then folded or raised for airing and storage.

How do HIMARI and SORA differ?

HIMARI is the everyday signature model with approximately 10 cm of loft and filling that contains 25% wool. SORA is the fuller flagship model with approximately 12 cm of loft and filling that contains 50% wool.

Are the sizes the same as standard Vietnamese bed sizes?

No. These products follow Japanese shikibuton dimensions. The centimeter measurement is authoritative and the inch conversion is an approximate reference, so measure the intended floor area, platform, or frame before ordering.

Can I leave a shikibuton flat on the floor every day?

It should be raised, folded, or aired regularly so moisture does not remain underneath. A clean, dry, firm, and breathable setup is important, especially in humid rooms or on non-breathable flooring.

Can the entire shikibuton be machine-washed?

No. Do not machine-wash, soak, or wash the entire shikibuton. Use a removable sheet or cover, blot localized spills promptly, dry the area completely, and consult a cleaner experienced with futon bedding for substantial soiling.

Where are HIMARI and SORA made?

Both models are made in Japan. OFUTON KOBO prepares, layers, sews, inspects, and finishes its shikibuton at its atelier in Oyama, Tochigi.

Is the price on this site the price I pay?

Yes. Every price here is the delivered price in your own currency, drawn from the same table the checkout uses, and shipping from Japan is already in it. Import duty is not: your country charges that on arrival, and we refund the first US$20 against the receipt within 60 days.

What happens when I continue to the store?

The handoff carries your market, your language and the size you chose to the official store, which is operated by KAWAGUCHISEIKEN CO., LTD. The price does not change on the way: both sides read the same price table.
