How do I store a shikibuton, or take it with me when I move?

A shikibuton folds into thirds for storage and moving. Store it clean and fully dry in a breathable cover, off the floor, and air it before using it again.

Before taking a shikibuton between Jersey rooms or packing it for a move, check the actual folded size and weight of the selected model. Also plan how to unpack and air it at the other end. Portability is useful only when the route and storage space work for you.

How should I prepare bedding for storage?

Make sure it is clean and dry before closing it away. Leave the care information accessible and inspect the bedding when it comes out of storage. Dampness discovered later should be dealt with before the futon is used.

Can I assume it will fit in a car?

Measure the transport space and check the packed dimensions instead. Foldable does not guarantee easy lifting or a fit in every vehicle. If those measurements are not available to you, ask before building a moving plan around them.
