A Message from the Representative
In recent years, price competition in the bedding market has grown ever fiercer, and the way people shop has changed quickly. In this climate, the company behind OFUTON KOBO — OFUTON KOBO Co., Ltd. — has chosen one direction: to make our fully integrated production even more solid. From raw cotton to refined wool, from sewing to the final inspection, every stage is overseen by OFUTON KOBO itself. That is how we set ourselves apart.
What we do is, in truth, very simple.
To make things our customers are genuinely glad to have bought; and things we ourselves are proud to have made. To that end, everyone at OFUTON KOBO keeps refining the atelier and our checks on both work-in-progress and finished pieces. Underpinning all of it are our management philosophy and our values and guiding principles. Allow us to share them —
Our partners, our colleagues, and I myself — by making our customers glad, everyone along that chain is carried into gladness in turn. This is what I mean by a business that is good four ways: for the buyer, for the seller, for society — and for ourselves.
that good sleep and a bedroom you love bring about.”
We are a maker of bedding, and a gathering of bedding artisans. Yet OFUTON KOBO makes more than the shikibuton itself: through the good sleep our bedding and our sewing craft make possible, and through the bedroom you love, proposed by our bedroom stylist YUKO, we want our customers' fulfilling everyday to truly come about. We act on that belief, each day.
to our own parents, grandparents and dearest friends — things made with pride.”
For a maker, this should go without saying. Yet as price competition grows fiercer, the market fills with things made without care. The shikibuton we make at OFUTON KOBO should carry our pride within a fair price — the kind of thing you would recommend, from the heart, to someone who matters to you. That is the work everyone here keeps doing.
Since we began selling directly online, we read every message our customers send — one by one, carefully, to the end. There is much to learn in them. But what we value and take pride in most is still that single word from a customer: “thank you.” From here on, too, we will keep working for even one more “thank you.”
To Customers Who Love Traditional Japanese Bedding
The family business began with Takahashi Cotton Shop in 1873. HIMARI 日葵 and SORA 宙 form the current international collection. Product availability is confirmed by destination in the official international store. The craft and quality this house has kept unchanged — we hope it reaches you, too.
