№ 01

The details behind a customer’s order

My daily work is the shipping preparation of customer orders, enquiry and review replies, and the ordering of light bedding. It sounds clerical, but behind every order is a particular customer — perhaps buying for a newly married daughter, perhaps for themselves moving into a new home, perhaps a lighter futon for an ageing parent. Keeping those circumstances in mind helps me give a useful reply.

№ 02

Packing with heart

Customers look forward to receiving the shikibuton they have chosen. I take care with the delivery slip, the box seal and the cushioning inside. When they open the parcel, I want them to feel that we have looked after their order.

№ 03

Rethinking my sleep habits

I used to be a “short sleeper” myself — thinking five or six hours was enough. After learning the science of sleep while preparing for the Certified Sleep & Bedding Advisor, I began to look anew at my own sleep habits. Sleep is an underrated foundation of health. After that reflection, the tone of my replies to customers changed too — no longer “answering from the manual,” but “having thought it through from your position as well.”

№ 04

Responsiveness to the unexpected

When an unexpected problem comes up, the production team and office work together to respond. We share the same aim: to make each order well and look after the customer.
