1. Separate business roles

OFUTON KOBO CO., LTD. is the brand company and manufacturer of the products. KAWAGUCHISEIKEN CO., LTD. is a separate legal entity that operates this international website and acts as the international seller and merchant responsible for payment collection, order management, customer service, returns, and refunds.

2. Website information

This site provides product, brand, culture, sizing and care information. EUR prices are references based on our French price list. The final product price, delivery charge, any taxes collected and total are confirmed in Shopify before you pay.

3. Orders and availability

An order is placed only through Shopify and is subject to inventory, payment authorization, fraud screening, delivery availability, and acceptance by the seller. Items placed in a cart are not reserved until the store confirms the order.

4. Price, delivery, duties, and taxes

Reference prices in EUR are based on the French euro price list. The final price, shipping and amount collected are confirmed at checkout. Import VAT, duty and clearance fees not collected at checkout are paid by the recipient. The authorities or carrier determine these charges; we do not promise a specific amount, exemption or contribution.

Dispatched from Japan by Japan Post EMS where available for your address. Confirm shipping, cost and any estimated delivery date at checkout. Customs clearance may extend delivery.

5. Product dimensions and normal variation

Centimetre dimensions are the primary product measurements and inch values are approximate references. Soft fibre products may show normal variation in loft, dimensions, weight, compression, and appearance due to measurement method, humidity, production lot, packing, and use.

6. Care and intended use

Use the shikibuton on a firm, level, clean, and suitably ventilated surface. Follow the care information for moisture, airing, rotation, covers, spills, and cleaning. The products are household bedding, not medical devices, and no site content is medical advice.

7. Withdrawal and complaints about goods

For a distance purchase, you can generally withdraw without giving a reason within 14 days of receiving the goods. Send a clear withdrawal notice within that period, for example to info@ofutonkobo.com, identifying your order and product. Send the goods back no later than 14 days after sending the notice. We will provide the procedure for your parcel individually by email.

For withdrawal unrelated to a defect or our error, you bear the direct cost of returning the goods to Japan if this was properly disclosed before the contract. The amount depends on the carrier. You may notify withdrawal by any clear statement; photos are not required for withdrawal. Email us for the individual parcel procedure.

Opening ordinary transport packaging does not automatically remove the right to withdraw. A statutory exception for sealed goods unsuitable for return for hygiene or health reasons applies only if its specific conditions are met. Handle the product only as needed to establish its nature and characteristics; you may be responsible for a reduction in value under applicable law. We do not offer a separate sleep-trial service.

After withdrawal, we refund the payments received to the extent required by applicable law, generally within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal notice. We may withhold the refund until we receive the goods or evidence that you have sent them back, whichever is earlier. We use the same payment method unless we expressly agree otherwise. Your statutory rights concerning defective or incorrect goods remain unaffected.

If goods arrive damaged, defective, incorrect or not as described, email us with the order number and a description of the problem. We handle the complaint according to applicable consumer rights; you will not bear return-delivery costs for a valid complaint.

For damage or a defect, include photographs if available to help explain the problem; they are not a condition of your statutory rights. Contact info@ofutonkobo.com for the individual parcel procedure. Mandatory consumer rights applying in Slovakia remain unaffected.

8. Intellectual property

Brand names, logos, product names, photographs, video, text, design, and other materials remain protected by their respective rights. No right to reproduce, redistribute, adapt, scrape in bulk, or use the materials commercially is granted except where applicable law permits or written permission is provided.

9. Changes and accuracy

We may correct errors and update product or policy information. A material change to an accepted order will be handled through the order process rather than silently changing the agreement after purchase.
